Who is this guy they call The Singing DJ??

Well, Rick Hyburg aka The Singing DJ, originally from the Buffalo, NY area, now resides in Charlotte, NC.  I am 34 years old and have an amazing 5 year old son and a lovely wife to whom I have been very happily married to for nearly 7 years.  I have done some traveling since I left Buffalo, having lived in 3 other states before settling in Charlotte. 

My interest in music began at the tender age of…well I guess since I was an infant.  I have done many different things in the world of music.  From playing orchestral music on the cello to being invited to sing with national recording artists Barenaked Ladies to playing in some really seedy clubs and bowling alleys.  Believe me I have seen a lot!!

I started DJ’ing in New York as a karaoke jock working at bowling alleys and a couple of clubs.  As fun as that was I knew I was missing the magic of weddings.  Fast forward to 2001.  I had been out of the DJ thing for a little while and I was faced with finding an entertainer/DJ for my own wedding.  Well, after a couple of interviews I decided on one.  Let’s just say he was AMAZING.  Not only did he work within our budget but he made it seem magical.  After the honeymoon and another move I decided it was time for me to make a go of it in the wedding DJ world…on my own!!!  No more crutch of working for someone else.  With this The Singing DJ was born.

So…no more seedy bars or bowling alleys for me, now I specialize in weddings.  Therefore you can feel completely confident in leaving your entertainment coordination up to me.  With many years experience and many, many weddings as practice I can offer the best reception entertainment money can buy!

Starting this business has created an opportunity for me to share in the special day of many brides and grooms and has helped forge a friendship with many of the clients I have worked with.  You see, I consider my job to be a privilege you give to me.  You don't have to "invite" me to your wedding or party; there are hundreds of other DJ/Entertainment companies in the area.  But you did, you put your faith in me.  Faith that I will do a good job entertaining you and your guests and that I will, in fact, Make Memories Affordable.  This means a lot to me.  Just because I attend a lot more weddings than the average person it does not mean the next one should be any less special to me.  I treat each wedding as though it were my first.  Just a few less nerves on my end!  It is an extremely special time for you and no one should take that away from you.  I believe what you say goes!  I will never try and persuade you away from doing it your way.  My job is to help you work out the details of the entertainment, not to tell you how to do it.  Will I help you with the way it "normally" goes?  Absolutely.  I will be as "hands on" as you want me to be or as "hands off" as you want me to be.  This day is for you, remember that.
